ㄷㄷㄷㄷ은 노우찬 작가의 첫 개인전으로, 전시 제목은 전시를 앞두고 작가가 마주한 기대와 불안을 함축하는 동시에 구체적 서사 대신 감각과 움직임을 우선시하는 그의 회화적 태도를 드러낸다.




Woochan Noh’s solo exhibition DDDD presents a body of work grounded in the artist’s long-standing painterly inquiry. By repeatedly reconstructing and layering universal motifs from childhood, such as the sun, mountains, and trees, the exhibition evokes the memories and emotions embedded within them. In his practice, images do not function as fixed signs but as devices that reveal experience and affect, while the accumulated layers on the canvas form a condensed field of time and sensation. Rather than articulating a concrete narrative, his emphasis on sensation and movement transforms familiar imagery into something unfamiliar, prompting viewers to reconsider the shared visual language and the emotions embedded within it.

노우찬 개인전 ㄷㄷㄷㄷ은 작가가 오랜 시간 축적해온 회화적 탐색을 바탕으로, 해, 산, 나무와 같은 유년기의 보편적 도상을 반복과 축적으로 재구성하며 그 안에 내재된 기억과 정서를 환기하는 전시이다. 그의 작업에서 이미지는 고정된 기호가 아니라 경험과 감정을 드러내는 장치로 작동하며, 화면 위에 축적된 레이어는 시간과 감각이 응축된 장을 형성한다. 구체적 서사를 설명하기보다 감각이나 움직임을 우선시하는 태도는 익숙한 이미지를 낯설게 전환시키고, 관람자로 하여금 우리가 공유해온 시각적 언어와 그 안에 내재된 정서를 다시 인식하도록 이끈다.








The exhibition title, DDDD, which appears as if letters have been omitted or reduced, stems from Woochan Noh’s attitude toward painting and extends his painterly practice that prioritizes sensation and movement over the articulation of a concrete narrative.

글자를 생략하거나 덜어낸 듯한 전시 제목ㄷㄷㄷㄷ은 노우찬이 그림을 대하는 태도에서 비롯되었으며, 구체적인 서사를 설명하기보다 감각과 움직임을 우선시하는 그의 회화적 실천의 연장선에 있다.








Borrowing a pictorial language long shared and intuitively understood between artist and viewer, he employs motifs such as the sun, mountains, birds, trees, clouds, and houses.


작가와 관람객이 서로 말하지 않아도 오래전부터 익히 알고 사용해왔던 그림의 형식을 빌려 와 해, 산, 새, 나무, 구름, 집과 같은 소재를 사용한다.





In Woochan Noh’s practice, images do not function as fixed signs but rather as traces of memory and fragments of emotion.

노우찬의 작업에서 이미지란 고정된 기호가 아니라, 기억의 흔적이며 감정의 파편이다.
