Curatorial Essay:
Nameless Points
The positions we believe we occupy are never fixed, but are continually formed and transformed. Through Nameless Points, the exhibition of selected artists from the first Title Unknown open call, UNAW GALLERY highlights the experimental practices and contemporary concerns of emerging artists who exist beyond fixed languages and institutional definitions. Rather than presenting a completed outcome, the exhibition focuses on a state in process where each artist navigates and constructs their own position.
A Nameless State, A Point of Possibility
Title Unknown, conceived as part of UNAW GALLERY’s new curatorial direction in 2026, begins from the premise that a nameless state is not a lack, but a condition of possibility. To remain unnamed is to exist prior to definition within a fluid and open condition. From this position, the artists establish their own coordinates through personal experiences and sensibilities, extending their practices into new narratives that are not yet fixed.

Forming at the Threshold
The participating artists, Nayeon Kim, Hyoshin Park, Alie Song, Joohee Jin, Emma Scarafiotti, and Thitibodee Rungteerawattananon, work across photography, painting, sculpture, video, and installation.
Despite their differences in medium, their practices converge around moments of transition where perception and identity, structure and experience, begin to take form. Between dream and reality, body and image, human and non-human, recording and erasure, center and periphery, they reveal domains that remain unnamed, exploring the tensions and possibilities that emerge within these in-between states.

The Formation of Narrative
This exhibition does not offer a single interpretation or conclusion. Instead, it traces the processes through which each artist arrives at their own coordinates, allowing individual narratives to unfold through the works. The artworks are not presented as fixed meanings, but as accumulations of experience and perception. Moving through the exhibition, viewers encounter the questions embedded in each practice, following the trajectories set by the artists.
The Viewer’s Coordinates
Nameless Points proposes a structure in which viewers engage with the works through their own memories and experiences. As they navigate the coordinates established by the artists, viewers begin to form their own discovering new meanings and narratives through perception. The exhibition thus operates not as a collection of results, but as a field where multiple layers of sensation and understanding intersect.
A State Yet to Be Named
Nameless Points ultimately presents the unnamed as a point of departure. It is a space where the traces of sensation and structure, as explored by six artists, unfold through the process of becoming. Within this space, viewers are invited not to confirm what is already known, but to encounter what has yet to be defined opening onto new possibilities of perception.

이름 없는 상태, 가능성의 출발점
Title Unknown은 2026년 유나갤러리의 새로운 운영 방향 속에서 기획된 공모전으로, 아직 이름 붙여지지 않은 상태를 하나의 가능성으로 바라보는 데서 출발합니다. ‘이름 없음’은 결핍이 아니라, 특정한 정의로 고정되기 이전의 유동적인 상태를 의미합니다. 작가들은 이 열린 상태 위에서 각자의 감각과 경험을 바탕으로 자신만의 좌표를 설정해 나가며, 이를 통해 새로운 서사를 확장합니다.

경계 위에서 형성되는 감각
전시에 참여한 김나연, 박효신, 송엘리, 진주희, Emma Scarafiotti, Thitibodee Rungteerawattananon은 사진, 회화, 조각, 영상, 설치 등 다양한 매체를 통해 작업을 전개합니다. 이들의 작업은 공통적으로 감각과 인식, 정체성과 구조가 형성되는 ‘경계의 순간’에 주목합니다. 꿈과 현실, 신체와 이미지, 인간과 비인간, 기록과 삭제, 중심과 주변 사이에서 아직 명명되지 않은 영역을 각자의 방식으로 드러내며, 그 사이에서 발생하는 긴장과 가능성을 탐색합니다.
서사가 형성되는 과정
이 전시는 하나의 해석이나 결론을 제시하지 않습니다. 대신 여섯 명의 작가가 각자의 좌표를 찾아가는 과정을 따라가며, 개별적인 서사가 어떻게 작품으로 구현되는지를 보여줍니다. 작품들은 완결된 의미로 제시되기보다, 감각과 경험이 축적되는 과정 속에서 형성됩니다. 관람자는 이 흐름을 따라가며, 작가들이 탐색해온 질문과 마주하게 됩니다.
관람자의 좌표
아직 이름 없는 좌표들 Nameless Points는 관람자가 작품을 통해 자신의 경험과 기억을 환기하는 구조를 제안합니다. 작가들이 설정한 좌표를 따라가는 과정 속에서, 관람자는 자신의 감각을 통해 또 다른 의미와 서사를 발견하게 됩니다. 이때 전시는 단순한 결과의 집합이 아니라, 서로 다른 감각과 인식이 교차하는 하나의 장으로 작동합니다.
아직 이름 없는 상태
아직 이름 없는 좌표들 Nameless Points은 이름이 정해지지 않은 상태를 하나의 출발점으로 제시합니다. 이 전시는 여섯 명의 작가가 통과한 감각과 구조의 흔적을 따라가며, 각자가 형성해 나가는 좌표의 과정을 함께 바라보는 자리입니다. 그 안에서 관람자는 이미 주어진 의미를 확인하기보다, 아직 정의되지 않은 영역과 마주하며 새로운 가능성을 경험하게 됩니다.
