Woochan Noh paints with less thinking and more movement, transforming childhood images—suns, mountains, birds, trees—into layers of memory and time through repeated erasing and overpainting. For him, an image is not a fixed symbol but a trace of memory and a fragment of emotion. In his new works, circular faces and figures reduced to simple lines arrange across the canvas like a choreography of collective movement, while familiar landscapes emerge in calmer, more condensed color, quietly turning the familiar into the strange.
노우찬은 생각을 덜어내고 더 많이 움직인 그림을 그리며, 해·산·새·나무 같은 유년의 이미지를 반복적으로 덧그리고 지우는 과정을 통해 기억과 시간의 층위로 변환한다. 그에게 이미지는 고정된 기호가 아니라 기억의 흔적이자 감정의 파편이다. 신작에서는 원형의 얼굴과 단순한 선으로 이루어진 인물들이 마치 군무처럼 화면에 배열되고, 익숙한 풍경 요소들은 더 차분하고 응축된 색채로 나타나며 익숙함을 낯섦으로 변주시킨다.
